Every authority, traced back to the source.
Legal work rests on what it cites. Citeva exists to make verifying those sources an ordinary step in Canadian legal practice — not an afterthought, and not something anyone has to take on faith.
What we're working on
A citation that does not say what it was said to say is a problem long before anyone notices it, and the cost of finding out late falls on the person who signed the document. That gap is the whole reason this exists.
We build citation review tools for the Canadian legal industry — firms, clinics, in-house teams, and the people who support them. The idea is simple: read a document, find the authorities it relies on, and check them against the record, so that what comes back is a clear account of what holds up and what deserves a second look before anything is filed.
It is meant to sit alongside the work lawyers already do, not in front of it. The tool surfaces what it found and points at where it found it; the judgment stays where it belongs.
How we approach it
Canadian law first
Built around Canadian courts, statutes and regulations, and the citation conventions actually used here — not adapted from somewhere else.
Made to be checked
Every result points back at the source it came from, so a person can confirm it for themselves. Nothing is asked to be taken on trust.
Careful with your work
Client documents are confidential material. They are handled as work you have entrusted to us for review, and nothing else.

We're glad to talk through how this could fit the way your team already works, or to walk you through it on a document.
